South Korea/Japan: Kong-rey dissipating, weather warnings lifted /update 6

Event

Typhoon Kong-rey made landfall on the southeastern coast of South Korea on the morning of Saturday, October 6. It then passed over Busan and the provinces of North and South Gyeongsang. No major damage has been reported, although some areas lost power. Local reports indicate that two people were killed in storm-related events.

Kong-rey has since been downgraded to a low-pressure system and its remnants are currently, as of October 8, over Japan. All weather warnings in Japan have been lifted, although some parts of the country remain under an "advisory" (the second-lowest level of alert on a four-tier scale). Strong winds are still expected as well as high waves along the coast. Low level disruption remains possible.
