On Friday, November 9, the US Embassy Port-au-Prince issued a security alert limiting travel for American employees in Port-au-Prince to within 24 km (15 mi) of the Embassy due to sporadic demonstrations, associated violence, and roadblocks. American employees wishing to travel outside the 24 km (15 mi) radius are required to seek approval from the Chief of Mission before traveling.

Context

Numerous demonstrations have been held in recent months, notably to demand the resignation of President Jovenel Moïse and the arrests of individuals implicated in government corruption scandals.
