Kenya: Retaliatory clan violence continues in Wajir

Retaliatory violence between two clans in Wajir county has left four people dead in two separate attacks on Wednesday, November 7, and Thursday, November 8. The clashes occurred in Giriftu over a water well and resulted in the deaths of four people and left three others wounded. The Wajir county commission deployed additional security personnel to the area while clan leaders are demanding justice for the continued violence. Further attacks in the area cannot be ruled out.

Many Western governments advise against nonessential travel to the Somali border region, including areas of Wajir, due to the risk of terrorism, violence, and kidnapping.
