Unidentified gunmen attack a village in Macomia district (Cabo Delgado province) on November 27, killing at least one person

A group of unidentified armed men reportedly attacked the village of Nacutuco in Macomia district (Cabo Delgado province) on the night (local time) of Tuesday, November 27. According to local reports, gunshots were heard near the village at approximately 20:30. The armed men stole goods from the villagers and set a number of structures on fire. At least one person was killed and another seriously wounded in the incident. Further attacks are possible in Cabo Delgado province in the near-term.

Context

On November 23, unidentified militants set fire to house in the village of Chicuaia Valha in Cabo Delgado province. At least 12 people were killed and hundreds fled across the border into Tanzania. The Ahlu Sunna Wa-Jamo/Ansar Al-Sunna (Shabaab) group has been suspected of carrying out the attack. It has also been accused of conducting similar attacks in the province in recent months, targeting local businesses, government installations, and security f.
