Tensions remain high in parts of Marsabit county as of December 18 following inter-ethnic clashes

Tensions remain high in Marsabit county as of Tuesday, December 18, following recent violent intercommunal clashes. On Sunday, December 16, at least three people were killed, including a local chief, during ethnic clashes between members of the Gabbra and Wayu communities in the town of Giresa, over water and land. Additional security forces have been deployed to the area to prevent a further escalation of violence.
