Mozambique: Unidentified militants kill four in Cabo Delgado Dec. 1-2 /update 2

Event

Unidentified armed men killed four people in two separate attacks in Mocímboa da Praia district (Cabo Delgado province) on Saturday, December 1, and Sunday, December 2. The attacks reportedly targeted two farmer camps in Njana and Natchunde, respectively. Similar attacks are possible in Cabo Delgado province in the near term.

Context

Notably, on November 23, unidentified militants set fire to house in the village of Chicuaia Valha in Cabo Delgado province. At least 12 people were killed and hundreds fled across the border into Tanzania. The Ahlu Sunna Wa-Jamo/Ansar Al-Sunna (Shabaab) group was suspected of carrying out the attack.
