Philippines: US issues security warning for Manila airport
US authorities advise their citizens traveling to Manila to exercise caution when arriving at Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL)

On Wednesday, December 26, the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a travel advisory stating security at Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) was not "consistent" with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards. The US Embassy in the Philippines advice its citizens to "exercise increased caution when travelling to or from Ninoy Aquino International Airport".

Despite being known as one of the worst international airports in the world due to recurrent flight delays and a deficient safety protocol (technical, human), Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) remains a major regional gateway to Southeast Asia.
