Burkina Faso: Police investigating blast reported in Ouagadougou on January 14

The blast, which occurred in the Silmiyiri neighborhood of Ouagadougou, left at least one person dead and several more injured. In 2014, a similar explosion was reported at in the Larlé neighborhood of Ouagadougou. According to investigators, the blast, which destroyed several buildings, was caused by the detonation of explosive material in a building used to stockpile explosives used in gold mining operations.
