Mount Agung volcano, located on Bali island, erupted on the evening (local time) of Thursday, January 10, around 08:00, spewing columns of volcanic ash. The eruption reportedly lasted for about four minutes. Authorities maintain the alert status at Level 3 (the second highest on a four-tier scale); an exclusion zone of 4 km (2.5 mi) around Mount Agung's volcano also remains in place. Local authorities have urged residents living around the volcano to monitor development to the situation and exercised increased vigilance.
Context
Mount Agung erupted less than two weeks ago, on December 30. The eruption lasted for three minutes, affecting areas located in the eastern regency of Karangasem. It also erupted earlier in June-July 2018, canceling dozens of flights.
