Jordan: Indefinite taxi strike in Amman, Balqa, Irbid, and Zarqa January 15

Yellow taxi drivers announced that they will launch an indefinite strike starting from Tuesday, January 15, in Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, and Balqa, to protest against the use of app-based ride-sharing services. At least 6000 taxi drivers are expected to take part in the strike. Drivers are demanding the government take actions to protect taxi drivers from what they claim is unfair competition from these services. Related demonstrations can be expected, along with associated significant traffic disruptions.
