The suspect is in custody and police do not believe there to be any wider threat to the public. Victoria station reopened on January 1 after a temporary closure in the wake of the incident and normal train service has resumed. Three people, including one police officer, reportedly sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries in the knife attack.

Security operations related to the ongoing investigation are to be anticipated in Manchester in the near-term. Earlier on January 1, police reportedly raided a home in the Cheetham Hill area, where the suspect is believed to have resided. Transportation disruptions (e.g. road closures) are to be anticipated surrounding any further operations.
