Orange weather alerts issued in eight departments in southeast February 1-2; transportation disruptions possible

On Friday, February 1, weather officials issued orange weather alerts (the second-highest on a four-tier scale) for snow, ice, avalanches, and heavy rains for eight departments in the southeast. The departments of Haute-Savoie and Hautes-Alpes have been placed under an orange alert for heavy snows, while orange alerts for avalanches have been issued in Isère, Savoie, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Alpes-Maritimes.
