UK: Significant transportation disruptions due to heavy snowfall February 1

The Met Office issued yellow warnings (lowest in a three-tier system) for ice and swow for a large part of England and the eastern part of Scotland on Friday, February 1. Heavy snowfall and icy conditions have caused significant transportation disruptions, notably on roads, and at airports. Bristol International Airport (BRS) has closed its runways late on Thursday, January 31, with no flights able to take off or land. The closure is expected to remain in effect until at least the afternoon (local time) of Friday. Severe disruptions also continue to be reported at London's Heathrow International airport (LHR) as of Friday, as the British Airways company had to cancel around 100 flights on Thursday evening.

Further disruptions are likely to persist in the coming hours and days.
