Warning

Event

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued flash flood and flood warnings for parts of central and southern Arizona through the afternoon hours (local time) of Friday, February 15. Moderate to heavy rains during the overnight to morning hours on Friday prompted flood warnings in parts of Coconino, Gila, Graham, Greenlee, Pinal, Pima, Yavapai, and Maricopa counties. A flash flood warning is also in effect for parts of Gila and Yavapai counties along Interstate 17 near Camp Verde and along Highway 87 near Payson. Localized transportation disruptions, including road closures, are possible in Arizona over the coming days.

Advice

Individuals present in the affected areas are advised to follow all instructions issued by local authorities and to anticipate transportation disruptions. Remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock an adult over.
