Reports of a security incident at Disneyland Paris (Marne-la-Vallée, a short distance east of Paris) were found to be due to an apparent escalator failure that was mistaken for the sound of gunshots, prompting a brief panic. Portions of the park were evacuated or briefly placed on lockdown as a result while security forces checked the area.
