The island of Bali will celebrate the Hindu festival of Nyepi, also know as the "Balinese Day of Silence," on Thursday, March 7, and Friday, March 8. From 06:00 (local time) on Thursday until 06:00 on Friday, residents of Bali are expected to observe the holiday. Work, travel, entertainment, and most lighting is forbidden during this time. Beaches, public areas, and roads are closed to everyone, including visitors, except emergency services. Denpasar's Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) is closed. While the holiday is primarily observed in Bali, the day is a public holiday for all Indonesia; business and government services are expected to be limited.
