Kenyatta University students protest Ugandan president's visit March 29; heightened security presence and additional protests are possible over the coming days

On Friday, March 29, students at Kenyatta University (Nairobi) protested the visit of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to the university. Protesters gathered outside of the institution's amphitheater, the venue at which the Ugandan president was giving a speech, by chanting Bobi Wine's name and calling for Museveni's resignation. Bobi Wine is a popular musician and political opponent of the Ugandan president, and was arrested by Ugandan authorities in August 2018.
A heightened security presence and additional protests are possible over the coming days.
