The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 6.1-magnitude earthquake on Papua New Guinea's New Britain island on Saturday, March 30 at approximately 21:20 (local time). The quake struck East New Britain province around 105 km (65 mi) east of Kimbe with a depth of 57 km (35 mi). No tsunami warning was issued as of 22:00. Details regarding possible damage have not been reported. Further aftershocks and associated damage are possible in the coming hours and days.
