A car bomb explosion wounded two policemen in Soyapango neighborhood in San Salvador on Monday, April 29. Authorities reported that street gang Mara Salvatrucha (MS13) put a fake body in an abandoned car, luring the officers, before detonating explosives within the vehicle. A similar attack targeting police officers was carried out by suspected members of the gang over the previous weekend. MS13 members are reportedly carrying out such attacks against police and military forces in retaliation for recent raids targeting the gang.

Similar attacks are possible in the capital over the coming days and weeks.
