Tunisia: Port workers to strike nationwide April 16-18

National port services union calls for a nationwide strike April 16-18; maritime travel disruptions possible

The national port services union has called for a three-day strike at all Tunisian ports from Tuesday, April 16, to Thursday, April 18. Port workers are reportedly organizing to demand the enforcement of previously signed agreements with the Office of the Merchant Marine and Port (OMMP), including, improvements to workplace conditions. Although the work stoppage is expected to primarily impact commercial maritime services, disruptions to maritime passenger travel are also possible during the work stoppage. Associated demonstrations cannot be ruled out.
