An explosion was reported Yakatoot district in eastern Kabul at approximately 08:30 (local time) on Friday, May 31. According to initial reports, the explosion may have been a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (SVBIED). Casualties have been reported and the area has been cordoned off by security forces. Details are still emerging.

Context

At least six people were killed in a suicide bombing attack at the entrance of Marshal Fahim National Defense University in Kabul on Thursday, May 30.
