Flooding across six Afghan provinces, including Kabul, leaves at least 24 people dead in past 48 hours as of May 25; lingering transportation disruptions to be expected over the near term

Flooding across six Afghan provinces, including Kabul, has left at least 24 people dead in the past 48 hours as of Saturday, May 25. The flooding has also reportedly resulted in the destruction of more than 220 homes in the country; 116 other homes were at least partially damaged by the flooding. Notably, some 500 people were rescued from flooding in Sheber district (Bamyan province).
Additional rainfall in some affected areas may cause further flooding over the coming days. Lingering transportation disruptions are to be anticipated in the affected provinces over the near term.
