Independence Day celebrations will take place nationwide on May 26; transportation and commercial disruptions expected

Georgia will hold Independence Day celebrations across the country on Sunday, May 26. The main events to commemorate the adoption of the Act of Independence of 1918 are expected to take place in Tbilisi, notably at Liberty square. Authorities will reportedly block off roads in the city center ahead of celebrations, including on Shota Rustaveli Avenue. Additional commemorations are to be anticipated in other urban areas.

A heightened security presence, as well as transportation and commercial disruptions, are anticipated nationwide during the celebrations.
