Indonesia: Police search for escaped inmates in Riau province (Sumatra) May 11

More than 100 prisoners escaped during a prison break in Riau province on Sumatra island on Saturday morning (local time), May 11, prompting a police search operation. The inmates escaped a jail in Siak regency during prison riots and a fire. Four prisoners and police were wounded in the riots. Security forces have apprehended many of the escapees as of 12:00, though dozens remain at large and security operations are reportedly ongoing in the district.
