Israel: Opposition-led protest held in Tel Aviv May 25

Thousands of people participated in an opposition-led protest in Tel Aviv on Saturday, May 25, denouncing legislative moves that may grant parliamentary immunity for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amid fraud and bribery allegations against him. Demonstrators also denounced the support of Netanyahu's political allies in the Likud party for proposed legislation that would reportedly block motions by Israel's Supreme Court to revoke such immunity.

Similar demonstrations are possible in Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities over the near term amid a heightened security presence. Localized transportation disruptions are to be expected near protest sites.
