A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Miyazaki prefecture at 08:48 (local time) on Friday, May 10. The quake hit approximately 37 km (23 mi) east-southeast of Miyazaki-shi at a depth of 20 km (12 mi). No tsunami warning has been issued and there have been no immediate reports of damages. Aftershocks are possible in the affected area over the coming hours and days.
