Jordan: Independence Day celebrations May 23-24
Independence Day celebrations will take place nationwide on May 23-24; transportation and commercial disruptions expected

Jordan will hold Independence Day celebrations across the country on Thursday, May 23, and Friday, May 24. Multiple marches are planned by the governorates, as well as by the Jordanian armed forces to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the kingdom's independence. On Thursday, May 23, a military march is set to take place in the city of Al-Salt (Balqa province), at approximately 19:30 (local time). Security officers in the Ma'an governorate are also planning to hold rallies on the same day, although exact times and locations were not immediately reported. On Friday, May 24, a march by military and security forces is planned to take place in the Hussein public parks in the capital Amman at approximately 19:30 (local time), after Friday prayers. A military rally is also set to take place in Irbid province following Friday Prayers.
Additional commemorations are to be anticipated in other urban areas. A heightened security presence, as well as transportation and commercial disruptions, are anticipated nationwide during the celebrations.
