Kazakhstan: Road closures for Nursultan cycling event June 2

Event

Nursultan (formerly Astana) will host the "Jastar Bike" cycling event on Sunday, June 2. Participants will complete a 14 km (9 mi) loop in the city center; Kabanbai Batyr Avenue, Uly Dala Avenue, and Turan Avenue will be partially closed to vehicular traffic from 8:30 to 11:30 (local time) during the event.

A heightened security presence, transportation disruptions, and crowded conditions are to be expected near the event.

Context

The "Jastar Bike" cycling event is part of the Year of the Youth celebrations put forth by former President Nursultan Nazarbayev beginning in January 2019.
