A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the southeast coast of Mindanao Island (southern Philippines) at a depth of 76 km (47 mi) some 92 km (57 mi) southeast of Governor Generoso town in Davao Oriental province at 18:12 (local time) on Friday, May 31. No damages or casualties were reported, and no tsunami warning was immediately issued.

Aftershocks are possible in the area over the coming hours and days.

Individuals in Davao Oriental are advised to be prepared for aftershocks and to adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. In the event of aftershocks, individuals are advised to protect themselves from falling debris if indoors, to move away from windows, and not attempt to leave the building unless there is an immediate danger.
