Local officials confirmed the deaths of 12 people from a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) on Sunday, July 7, in Ghazni province. The bombing took place early Sunday morning (local time) near a National Directorate of Security (NDS) compound in Ghazni city. Eight security personnel were killed in the blast along with four civilians. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the blast. Similar attacks are possible in Afghanistan over the near term.
