Political opposition parties and civil society groups are planning to hold demonstrations in Abidjan on Monday, July 15, and Tuesday, July 23. The Forum of Organizations of Ivorian Civil Society (FORSCI) is calling for supporters to gather outside of the Delegation of the European Union to Côte d'Ivoire on July 15. Political opposition parties, including the Indignant Coalition of Côte d'Ivoire, are scheduled to hold a sit-in on July 23 at the headquarters of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). Both rallies are being held to protest fees for obtaining national identity cards. Heightened security measures and localized traffic disruptions are anticipated around all demonstration sites.
