Heavy rainfall forecast for northern Luzon as Tropical Depression Danas (Falcon) skirts island July 17; consequent flooding, landslides, and transportation disruptions to be expected in affected areas
Event
Heavy rainfall is forecast to affect northern Luzon on Wednesday, July 17, as the center of Tropical Depression Danas (locally known as Storm Falcon) skirts north of the Philippines. Rainfall of 12.5-25 cm (5-10 in) is forecast for northern Luzon, with localized higher totals possible.
Consequent flash flooding, landslides, and transportation and business disruptions are to be expected in affected areas.
Advice
Individuals in northern Luzon are advised to monitor local weather reports, anticipate flooding, telecommunications and power outages, and widespread transportation disruptions (including due to flight disruptions and road obstructions), and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Remember that walking or driving through running water can be dangerous and that floodwater may contain wastewater and chemical products; all items having come into contact with floodwater should be disinfected and all foodstuffs discarded.
