EVA Airways cancels an additional 550 flights through mid-July after negotiations with striking flight attendants fail on July 2; further flight disruptions possible

Negotiations between EVA Airways and the Taoyuan Flight Attendants Union (TFAU) broke down again on Tuesday, July 2, amid an ongoing strike by flight attendants. The airline announced that another 550 flights have been canceled through mid-July after 11 hours of negotiations did not result in an agreement. Union leaders claim that the company is delaying an agreement on work conditions and wages. Talks did not resume as of the morning (local time) of Wednesday, July 3, and its is unclear when the next round of negotiations will be held. Additional flight disruptions, including cancelations, may be announced in the coming days. Associated demonstrations near the EVA headquarters in Taipei are also possible.

Context

Flight attendants launched an indefinite strike on June 20, disrupting over 2000 flights and impacting around 405,000 passengers as of July 2. EVA Air is the second largest Taiwanese carrier with 79 aircraft serving 64 destinations globally.
