Taiwan: Flight and train disruptions expected as Danas skirts island July 18 /update 2
Officials cancel typhoon warning for Tropical Storm Danas on July 17, though heavy rainfall expected through July 18; train and flight cancelations and disruptions reported

The Central Weather Bureau canceled the land alert for Tropical Storm Danas on Wednesday evening (local time), July 17, as the storm's path shifted further east. Despite the lowered threat, heavy rain is still expected across the island with localized amounts up to 50 cm (20 in). Torrential rain and gust warnings remain in effect for Yilan, Hualien, Taitung, and Pingting counties. Flight cancelations and adjustments were reported, including at Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA), Taitung Airport (TTT), Hualien Airport (HUN), and Taichung International Airport (RMQ). Rail disruptions are also likely, particularly along the east coast, and landslides and associated road closures are also possible.
Additionally, another low-pressure system that formed from parts of Danas is expected to bring heavy rain to southern Taiwan in the coming days. It is currently located west of Luzon (Philippines) and may move north toward Taiwan.
