The Taiwanese Central Weather Bureau issued heavy and extremely heavy rain alerts for ten counties in southern and western Taiwan for Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20, due to the passing of a tropical low-pressure system. Heavy rain, flooding, and landslides are possible, particularly in mountainous areas. Associated transportation disruptions, including road closures, rail delays and cancelations, and flight delays, are also possible.

Context

The storm is a breakaway portion of Tropical Storm Danas, which passed to the east of Taiwan, bringing heavy rain to Taiwan's east coast earlier in the week.

Advice

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, anticipate heavy rain and transportation disruptions, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
