The Islamic State (IS) group has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing that occurred in in the Intilaka area of Tunis on Tuesday, July 2. A wanted IS militant reportedly triggered a suicide bomb after being surrounded and shot at by the police, following a long chase. No casualties were reported. Meanwhile, the government indicated that the militant was behind the attacks that occurred in Tunis on Thursday, June 27, and that several suspects linked to the attacks were arrested. Authorities added that the suspects were planning further attacks against police facilities in the capital.
Further such attacks are possible in the near term.
