An improvised explosive device (IED) detonated outside the holding area of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Jalalabad (Nangarhar province) on Sunday, August 25, wounding three people. No claim of responsibility was immediately reported.

A heightened security presence is to be expected around the Pakistani Consulate General in Jalalabad over the coming days and weeks. Similar attacks are to be expected in Nangarhar province over the near term.
