The Iron Dome missile defense system reportedly intercepted two of the rockets. Sirens were sounding in southern Israeli communities near Gaza as of 21:05. Thousands of people in southern Israel sought cover following the launches; no casualties were immediately reported.

Additional Palestinian rocket launches from the Gaza Strip targeting Israel are possible over the coming hours and days, as well as retaliatory Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.
