Twin suicide bombings in Gaza leave three dead as of August 28; investigation ongoing

Hamas said on Wednesday, August 28, that the explosions that struck two police posts in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, August 27, were carried out by suicide bombers. Three police officers were killed in the attacks and three other Palestinians were wounded. The Gaza Strip remains under a "state of alert" as an investigation into the attacks remains ongoing. Security officials have reportedly begun to round up suspected jihadists implicated in the attacks. The incident is thought to have been perpetrated by extremists with links to the Islamic State (IS) group, according to Palestinian officials.
