Metrobus delays possible due to protest in Washington, DC August 14; plan to use alternative modes of transportation

Authorities in Washington, DC have warned that major delays are possible on Metrobus lines due to a demonstration in the Gallery Place area beginning at 16:00 (local time) on Wednesday, August 14. Demonstrators will reportedly be gathering at the intersection of 7th and H streets NW to protest possible plans to close the area's only men's halfway house. Road closures are possible in the following areas:

  • H Street NW between 6th and 8th streets
  • 7th Street NW between G and I streets

These closures may affect Metrobus routes 70, 74, 79, 80, X2, X9, and P6, as well as others in the surrounding area. Significant transportation disruptions, including road closures, heavy traffic, and delays, are expected. A heightened security presence is to be expected around the protest site.
