Power supply disruptions are expected to continue in Chiba prefecture for up to another two weeks as at least 185,000 homes remain without power as of Friday, September 13. According to Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), unprecedented damage from Typhoon Faxai has caused delays in repairing the network. Downed trees in mountainous areas have reportedly hampered recovery efforts. Water supply problems are also still affecting Chiba as the blackouts are preventing some areas from being able to pump up ground water. As of Friday morning (local time), at least 27,000 homes were without water. Military personnel with water trucks have been deployed into some areas until power is restored. Power and water supply disruptions are expected to continue over the coming days.
