A 6.2-magnitude earthquake strikes south-southeast of Pondaguitan (Mindanao) on September 29; no tsunami warning immediately issued
Event
The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 6.2-magnitude earthquake off the southeastern coast of Mindanao island on the morning (local time) of Sunday, September 29. According to the USGS, the quake hit at approximately 10:02 about 85 km (53 mi) south-southeast of Pondaguitan at a depth of 76 km (47 mi). A tsunami warning was not immediately issued by officials.
Aftershocks are possible in the coming hours and days.
