Supporters of the Extinction Rebellion (XR) environmental activist group are blocking the William Jolly Bridge in Brisbane as of 11:10 (local time) on Friday, October 11. Significant traffic disruptions have been reported in the area as dozens of protesters have gathered on the bridge. Local media reported that some demonstrators have been detained by the police. A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are anticipated around all protest sites.
