Environmental group schedules rallies in several cities on October 6-13; heightened security presence and transport disruptions expected

The Extinction Rebellion (XR) environmental group has called for a week of rallies and civil disobedience in multiple cities across Australia, starting from Sunday, October 6. Rallies, marches and actions including traffic disruptions are expected to take place in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth, and Hobart through Monday, October 13.
In Hobart, protesters are expected to gather from 14:00 (local time) to 20:00 at the Parliament Lawns on Sunday, October 6.
In Sydney, rallies will be held in the Royal Botanical Garden from 11:00 to 15:00, followed by a march starting at 13:30 from Belmore Park on Monday, October 7. On Tuesday, October 8, protesters will gather around Archibald Fountain from 09:00 to 11:00, and at Sydney Square from 11:30 to 13:15. Other protests and gatherings will also be held at Manly Beach on Friday, October 11, at Congee Beach on Saturday, October 12, and at Bondi Beach on Sunday, October 13.
In Adelaide, traffic disruption acts will be held from 11:40 to 13:30 on Gouger Street on Tuesday, and Flinders street on Thursday. Rallies are also expected to take place at the Pioneer Women's Memorial Garden on Monday, at Hindmarch Square on both Wednesday and Saturday, and at the intersection of Rundle Mall and Pulteney Street on Friday evening.
In Canberra, participants are expected to gather at 10:00 on Monday in front of Albert Hall before marching across Commonwealth Bridge from 11:00 to 16:00. The rally will then head towards the Parliament House.
Context
The Extinction Rebellion environmental group has organized disruptive protests around the world since November 2018 to demand increased action to address climate change issues. XR is planning a series of international protests starting the week of Monday, October 7.
