The opposition Democratic Party of Cote d'Ivoire (PDCI) will organize a rally in Yamoussoukro on Saturday, October 19, in commemoration of former President Felix Houphouet-Boigny and in support of the PDCI Vice President Jacques Mangoua, who was sentenced on Thursday, October 3, to five years in prison on weapons possessions charges that his lawyers say are fabricated. Thousands of supporters are expected to gather at the John Paul II Square as of 09:00 (local time).

A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are likely.
