Authorities extend wildfire emergency alert in South Sumatra province October 28; firefighting operations ongoing

Provincial authorities announced on Sunday, October 27, that the wildfire emergency alert currently in place in the South Sumatra province, was extended through Sunday, November 10, due to persisting wildfires in the area. As of Friday, October 25, 1279 hotspots were still ongoing in South Sumatra and 1030 additional security personnel have been deployed to control the situation.
