Enthronement ceremony scheduled in Tokyo on October 22, November 10; heightened security measures and traffic disruptions expected

Heightened security measures and transportation disruptions are expected in Tokyo on Tuesday, October 22, and Sunday, November 10, due to the imperial enthronement ceremony.
On October 22, the ceremony is scheduled to start at 13:00 (local time) in the Imperial Palace (Chiyoda). An open-top drive parade initially planned to take place on October 22 between the Imperial Palace (Chiyoda) and the Akasaka Palace (Minato Ward) have been postponed to November 10, following the significant damages caused by Typhoon Hagibis on October 12, in which at least 77 people died. Further details have yet to be announced. Traffic disruptions and road blockages are to be expected in along the parade.
Due to the large number of foreign dignitaries that will be visiting the capital, further localized road blockades are also to be expected around the city center. Heightened security measures will be implemented at all airports in Tokyo, likely causing significant delays at airports between Saturday, October 19, and Thursday, October 24.
