Japan: Significant disruptions expected during Typhoon Hagibis October 10 /update 3
Signficant disruptions are expected in central Japan from Typhoon Hagibis as of October 10; heavy rain, strong winds, flooding, and associated disruptions expected

According to forecasts from the Japanese Meteorological Agency (JMA) on Thursday, October 10, Typhoon Hagibis will arrive from west Japan to eastern Japan between Saturday, October 12, through Sunday, October 13, before tracking north at a faster speed. The JMA expects the typhoon to bring damaging winds, heavy rains, dangerous sea conditions, and flooding in several areas including Tokyo. East Japan Railway Company has warned that it may suspend some train service over the weekend, including in Tokyo. A final decision is expected to be announced on Friday, October 11. Local media has also reported that telecommunication operators are also preparing for service disruptions.
As of 09:00 on Thursday, Typhoon Hagibis is located at 23.1°N 139.9°E (map here) and is tracking north at 20 kph (12 mph), with maximum wind gusts of 252 kph (157 mph).
Associated transportation disruptions, including to flights, rail, and ferry service, and business disruptions are expected in the affected areas. Power outages are also likely.

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, confirm flight reservations, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, anticipate adverse weather and power and transportation disruptions, and remember that running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) is enough to knock over an adult - and never drive through flooded streets; floodwater may also contain wastewater and chemical products.
