Local officials have confirmed at least two fatalities in multiple locations on Mindanao as of 14:00 (local time) on Tuesday, October 29, following a 6.6-magnitude earthquake earlier in the day. A student was killed by falling debris in Magsaysay (Davao del Sur) and another man died in Koronadal (South Cotabato). Damages have been reported in some area, particularly in Tulunan (Cotabato) near the epicenter of the quake. Tremors were felt in multiple cities, and schools throughout the region have been suspended as a precaution. Power outages were reported in General Santos City and similar cuts are possible in the area. Further details regarding the extent of the damages and updated casualty figures are expected to be released over the coming hours as recovery operations continue.

Multiple aftershocks have been recorded throughout Tuesday and more are likely over the coming hours and days.

The initial earthquake struck at approximately 09:04 on Tuesday about 25 km (15 mi) northeast of Tulunan.
