Thailand: Bangkok to host ASEAN Summit November 2-4

The 35th ASEAN Summit will be held in Bangkok from November 2-4; heightened security measures and associated disruptions expected

Bangkok will host the 35th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit from Saturday, November 2, through Monday, November 4. The meetings will be held at the IMPACT Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi province, where thousands of people are expected to attend the events. Thailand’s government has declared Monday and Tuesday, November 5, as public holidays for Bangkok and Nonthaburi province to reduce traffic congestion and facilitate security for visiting ASEAN delegates.

Heightened security measures, including checkpoints, vehicle checks, and increased security personnel are to be expected throughout Bangkok during and following the summit. Associated disruptions, including road closures and increased traffic congestion, are also anticipated.
